Dupree is a successful Los Angeles attorney, in a major firm. Dara is fifteen hundred miles away. Ready to take his own life, on his way to his office, Dupree decides to make a simple turn. It sets in motion events he never dreamed possible. Dara and Dupree is part road trip, part mystery thriller, part romance, all part of a greater plan. Traveling up the great Central Valley of California, Dupree meets a collection of damaged people who act as a mirror to his own life; people lost on a road of pain and despair, and those who share real love, a clear goal for their life, and the keys to his happiness. Dara has experienced triumph and tragedy. Her vivacious personality and soul deep beauty bring joy to all that visit The Quarter Moon Café, yet she is alone. The idyllic, picturesque town of White Owl is at a crossroads. Will they continue to let one man destroy all their gentle people and become a town where the law has become the enemy? Sometimes the battle between good and evil seems unwinnable, until one man says, “Enough!” Right or left, life or death? Take the road trip of a lifetime and find that happiness can be as simple as which way your turn signal blinks.

Prologue

Dupree wished he were dead. Not literally, figuratively, no, literally. He hated the fact the sun came up on another day. He hated the fact that downstairs, maybe, were three people he despised. There were probably only two. His worthless son, Eric, usually slept until noon. Or so Dupree was told.

Today was a bit different than other days. Dupree reached over and turned the alarm off at four-forty-five, pulled the covers up tight around his neck and said, “Screw it.” There are some reading this that will, using their best Dr. Phil armchair psychiatry, say Dupree was clinically depressed. Not so.

He was angry, resentful, frustrated, overworked, overpaid, under-sexed, under-appreciated, disgusted, and to sum it all up, he “had had enough.” Granted, two hads in the same sentence might not be correct, but that is exactly how Dupree saw his life.

SandraHan1: This story is very descriptive, with vivid scenes from the very beginning, which made for a good scene setting. I love the symbolism in names, such as “Naysayers”, “Hadd”, etc . zoheusher20: What more can I say? The writing style and little details drew me into the book and for the entirety of the story I was Juliet. maewilde25: I am so in love with this story!!! captivated me till the very end, there wasn't a dull moment. OpheliaJones: This story took a different kind of spin on the "normal girl lives with definitely not normal guy" plot. The plot points of Frey's father, Liam's family, and Frey's view of Liam's world were good to read. She did not fall in love with him in the first couple weeks. Their lives were not smooth in ...
